Process Technician
FT – 40 hours per week, Mon-Thurs 21:00-07:00
4 x 10-hour shifts, nights

THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Process Technician to join our team. In this role, you will take ownership of the methods, systems, and equipment used to convert raw materials into final products in our injection moulding facility. You will bring proven, hands-on experience of running and troubleshooting injection moulding machines within a manufacturing environment and will ensure the smooth operation of the production facility by independently resolving equipment issues and optimising production processes.
Additionally, you will be responsible for supplying all necessary materials and components to various work areas within the factory, ensuring efficient and uninterrupted production. The current requirement is for the night shift pattern outlined above; however, there is a requirement to be flexible across all shift patterns in order to meet business needs.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage materials, components and consumables to the shift, including stock monitoring, replenishment, storage of excess materials, monthly stocktakes, and accurate recording of usage (weight, BN and batch numbers).
- Set up, operate and troubleshoot injection moulding machines and auxiliary equipment, including mould, insert and colour changes, hopper loader/dryer start-up, and stop/pull-back/purge procedures, independently resolving faults and escalating to the Engineering Manager where required.
- Complete first-off inspections and quality documentation, manufacturing product to required standards and producing associated reports.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment, including machine filter cleaning and the upkeep of pallet trucks and forklifts.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action to reduce scrap (target: under 5%) and improve OEE, applying Lean/Six Sigma tools, while meeting production schedules and targets.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards, reporting findings to management.
- Act as the main point of contact on the night shift, covering operative breaks and providing technical guidance and support.
LEVEL OF QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience operating, setting and troubleshooting injection moulding machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with setting up and maintaining auxiliary equipment.
- Experience in handling materials and components, ensuring timely supply to production areas.
- Proven experience overseeing production processes and equipment on shift within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to perform mould, insert, and colour changes on machines without supervision.
- Experience in conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Relevant engineering/technical qualification (e.g. HNC/HND) or equivalent time-served industry experience.
- Valid forklift licence.
- IT literate, with the ability to accurately complete production records and reports.
Desirable
- Awareness of the production processes required to achieve high Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Strong technical knowledge of production technology, raw materials, and products.
- Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma tools for continuous improvement.
- Health and safety qualification (e.g. IOSH Working Safely).
- Experience processing rigid PVC or similar polymers.
- Experience using ERP systems (e.g. Infor, SAP, Epicor or similar) to record production data, manage stock, or support manufacturing processes.
