Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Manager (SHEQ)

We're proud of our staff and success to date and have big plans for the future. We are currently seeking a SHEQ Manager to join our Management Team.
THE ROLE
The post holder will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive health, safety, environment, and quality policies in compliance with regulatory and industry standards (e.g., ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001). They will ensure a safe working environment, aiming for zero harm, and lead strategic projects to achieve Net Zero environmental impact.
Additionally, the post holder will maintain rigorous quality control standards to meet customer expectations with zero defects and complaints. Key responsibilities include managing the Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) requirements, conducting risk assessments, overseeing calibration activities, and leading problem-solving initiatives. The role also involves establishing a programme of health and safety training, managing audits, and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders to promote a culture of safety, sustainability, and quality excellence.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and Implement Policies: Create and enforce comprehensive health, safety, environment, and quality policies in line with regulatory and industry standards (e.g., ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001).
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all practices comply with relevant laws and regulations, including Health & Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order 1978, COSHH, REACH, and MHRA guidelines.
- Safety Management: Foster a safe working environment, aiming for zero harm to employees, visitors, and partners through proactive safety measures.
- Environmental Impact Reduction: Lead strategic projects to minimize environmental impact and achieve ambitious Net Zero targets.
- Quality Control: Uphold rigorous quality control standards to ensure components and finished products consistently meet customer expectations with zero defects and complaints.
- Training and Development: Provide comprehensive training and support to staff on health, safety, environment, and quality practices to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance health, safety, environmental, and quality performance across the organization.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure timely corrective actions are taken.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records and documentation of all health, safety, environment, and quality activities.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to promote a culture of safety, sustainability, and quality excellence.
LEVEL OF QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Essential Criteria
- At least 3 years recent and relevant experience in a similar role.
- National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) General Certificate qualified or willing to work towards NEBOSH certificate accreditation.
- Demonstrable experience of ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001, PAS2060, COSHH, REACH, MHRA, or similar.
- ISO Internal auditor trained.
- Experienced in the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or other digital solutions.
- Computer literate and proficient in the use of MS Office applications including Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience of lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Flexibility with regards to working hours will be required from time to time in order to support all shifts as required.
Desirable Criteria:
- Member of Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH).
- NEBOSH Diploma.
- NEBOSH Environmental Certificate.
